I would like to tell you how thankful I am for Sunday chapel services in the backstretch. I am a recovering alcoholic. I live at Mohawk Raceway. I lost my license due to alcohol. Chaplain Ken was an inspiration. He counseled me spiritually. I gave my heart to the Lord at age 13. I just couldn’t get things right. I thank God every day for sending people like Chaplain Ken into my life What seemed impossible was made possible. AA was brought right to Mohawk. We are reminded there are still people in this world who care for others, while gaining nothing in return. That simple act of kindness changes all who come in contact with it in some way. I want to thank the Race Track Chaplaincy of Canada. If I had not been healed spiritually, and deepened my understanding of the Word of God, I would still be drinking. Simply put, it saved my life. It made me realize I’ll never be alone, for the Lord is always with me, amen.
I am writing to you about the importance of the Race Track Chaplaincy. They are a group of the utmost importance to have. They are here to help you in any way they can and they ask nothing in return.
I myself had a very serious family problem a few months ago and was in a real mess. I didn’t have anyone to turn to, to talk to or to listen. Then I thought of the Chaplaincy. I went to see Chaplain Ken, to which I still see every week.
When they had just come on the scene, I was their biggest critic. But you don’t realize how important they really are. Especially when you have nowhere to turn. I sincerely hope the Chaplaincy stays at the Racetrack and at every track everywhere. They are a real success story and a major asset.
It has made a big difference in my life and has made me a better father to the most important person in my life- MY DAUGHTER.
I have heard of recent news that Chaplain Ken Carter might not be staying at Mohawk Raceway, and I believe this is a big mistake and this is an injustice to everyone involved in racing in the Mohawk backstretch and surrounding training centres.
I know he has helped many people, some of which are good friends of mine. He is very easy to talk to and understanding which makes him a very valuable asset to everyone around Mohawk.
In my opinion, Ken should be kept on, helping those in need as he has done in the past. I don’t know how you can you put a price on anyone’s salvation and peace of mind.
This letter is to advise how greatly appreciative I am to have the services of Chaplain Ken Carter available to me.
He has helped me a great deal since his placement at Mohawk, especially over the past few months, when I have been going through a personal crisis and needed his services the most.
I find him very understanding, caring and trustworthy. He is also very knowledgeable in many aspects of life, where he has directed me in the right direction.
